Folded Map
Torres del Paine in a series of touring and trekking maps of Chile and the neighbouring regions of Argentina from JLM, which provides coverage of the park at two scales:
The 1:100,000 map:
The map provides an overview of the main peaks, glaciers and the lakes, with the connecting dirt tracks. Coverage extends from Lago Paine (50º50’) to Puerto Toro (51º26’) and from eastern shores of Lago del Toro (72º40’) to beyond Lago Geikie (73º20’). Contours at 100m intervals, relief shading, and colouring for glaciers, sand plains, vegetation, etc. show the terrain. Local dirt tracks indicate distances and/or journey times. Recommended hiking, horse riding and biking routes are highlighted, again with distances and/or trekking/riding times. Symbols show campsites, free camping areas, refuges and other accommodation, food supplies and petrol stations view points, etc. Latitude and longitude grid is at 4’, with margin ticks at 2’, plus margin ticks with UTM coordinates. Map legend includes English. On the reverse is a more general map of the area at 1:450,000 showing road access from Puerto Natales, a satellite image of the park, a panorama drawing of the main peaks, 12 route profiles of recommended treks, and a small plan of Puerto Natales.
The 1:50,000 map:
Double-sided map showing most of the area covered by the 1: 100,000 version, apart from the surroundings of Lago PorteÉo in the south-eastern corner. Cartography and all the information is simply an enlargement of what is provided on the 1:100,000 map. Latitude/longitude grid is at 4’ intervals with no intermediate margin ticks.
Please note: deliveries of JLM maps are very irregular – for titles currently not in stock it is advisable, where possible, to choose alternatives from other publishers.
