Double-sided, indexed, waterproof map of Africa south of approx. 15°30’ dividing the area east/west and covering the whole of Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and South Africa, with southern Zambia and Mozambique. Madagascar is not included. Topography is shown by attractive altitude colouring (in feet). Salt pans and dry stream beds, wetlands and swamps, sand dunes, and intermittent streams are also show. Internal administrative boundaries are shown within South Africa, but names of local provinces are also given in the other countries.
The map shows railways, airports and local airfields, and the road network including unsurfaced roads and seasonal tracks, with locations of petrol stations and intermediate driving distances on major roads. National parks and reserves are clearly marked, and symbols indicate selected accommodation including campsites, tourist attractions (e.g. antiquities, historic sites), various services such as post offices, hospitals, etc. Latitude & longitude lines are drawn at 2° intervals.The map is annotated with geographic and historic information but has an index of localities.
