Indexed map showing Africa from approx. 15° south, with Madagascar and the Comoros Islands shown as insets. Altitude colouring with relief shading, with names of mountain and hill ranges and occasional spot heights, present the topography. Road network includes unsurfaced roads and tracks and highlights scenic routes. The map also shows railways and local airports, as well as internal administrative boundaries in most of the countries. Boundaries of national parks, places of interest, campsites, etc, are marked, although not always easy to see among other detail on the map. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at intervals of 2°. Map legend is in English, German and French, with country names given in those languages.

On the reverse there is an index of place names with separate list of places of interest and beaches and bays, a distance table, plus black and white street plans of Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria, and Windhoek.
