Indexed road atlas of Israel with street plans of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Each page of road maps is annotated with brief descriptions of places of interest, including instructions for access, and similar information for street plans gives opening hours and phone numbers.

Road network, presented with clear, easy to read cartography, includes local and unpaved roads. Junction names and designated access routes within the West Bank are highlighted. Railway lines are shown with stations and local airfields and landing strips are marked. The atlas also indicates the course of the “Israel Track” long-distance hiking path.

Within the West Bank and Gaza colouring indicates Palestinian control or joint authority, and areas designated as nature reserves are indicated. The course of the separation wall is marked, including planned sections, as well as the 1974 ceasefire lines.

The base map shows perennial and seasonal rivers or streams, wells and springs, with colouring for deserts, sand dunes and forested areas. On the Negev Desert names of various mountain ranges are marked. Nature reserves and other protected areas are also indicated.

A wide range of symbols shows locations of various places of interest, including archaeological and historical sites, campsites and hostels, beaches and recreational areas, etc. The maps have 1km margin ticks. Where appropriate, road maps are also annotated with panels showing frequencies for local radio stations.

The atlas has an extensive index and includes street plans of central Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, also indexed, showing one way streets and car parks, as well as highlighting public buildings, places of interest and selected hotels

Map legend and all the text are in English. All place names are shown in Latin alphabet only.

A special feature of this atlas are panels, placed on each page of road maps, with descriptions of main places of interest (all highlighted on the maps) and instructions for access. Similar information is also provided for the two cities, including, where appropriate, providing opening times and access by bus.

The atlas is produced on high quality paper, and with its very clear, informative cartography and excellent lay-out, this is one of the best road atlases in Stanfords’ current stock.
