Maps in the MairDumont’s Marco Polo series have a special fold-out flap in the map jacket providing an overview of the whole area and highlighting popular locations, with the grid reference system in the margins making it easier to find places on the main map. A set of seven peel-on/peel-off stickers, removable without damaging the map surface, is provided for making selected locations more prominent when navigating.

Topography is shown by relif shading with spot heights and plenty of names of local mountain chains, peaks and passes, etc. Road network clearly presents motorways, indicating junction numbers, toll stations and services. Local primary roads have numbers and many show driving distances. Scenic routes are highlighted and other information includes gradients and seasonal closures. Railway lines are included and on the Adriatic ferry routes are marked.

The map highlights numerous places worth visiting, both picturesque towns, villages or cultural sights and natural features such as mountains, passes, caves, etc. In areas using Cyrillic script all place names are shown in Latin alphabet only. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at intervals of 30’. Multilingual map legend includes English.

The index, in separate booklet attached to the map cover, is arranged by country and gives locations with their postcodes, plus provides information on traffic regulations and emergency numbers. Also included on the map are street plans of central Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Split, Rijeka, Sarajevo and Belgrade.
