Southern Africa at 1:3,275,000 is an indexed map of the southern half of the continent with additional street plans and enlargements of popular regions. The map covers Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe. The publisher has chosen to concentrate on creating a map which will primarily be of use for a tourist navigating between main points of interest as opposed to stressing more detailed cartography.

National, principal, main and minor roads, including those untarred, are extremely clearly marked, as are airports and airfields, major petrol stations, caravan parks, campsites and rest camps. International boundaries and border posts are demarcated.

In keeping with the publisher’s emphasis on a general navigational, tourist related map National Parks and Reserve areas, diving and bathing areas, caves and ruins as well as other sites of special interest to the tourist are specifically highlighted.

Also included on the map are small charts for Windhoek, Cape Town, Durban, Harare, and Johannesburg indicating average temperatures, levels of rainfall and hours of sunlight for each month. Additionally a table showing distances between main towns across the country and a calendar of events are provided and the map is illustrated with some colour photographs and the flags of relevant countries.

The map features street plans of Johannesburg and Durban city centres, Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, Bulawayo city centre, Maputo, Gaborone, Harare, Windhoek, Pretoria (Tshwane) and Cape Town, as well as local area road maps for the Cape Peninsula and Winelands, around Johannesburg and Pretoria, Victoria Falls, the Okavango Delta and Makgadikgadi Pans and Lake Kariba. Also included are maps of the Hwange, Nyanga and Kruger National Parks, Fish River Canyon and Sun City (Lost City).
