Roads network includes local roads and is graded according to the number of lanes. Motorway junctions show full or partial interchanges; primary route destinations shown on road signs are highlighted. Steep gradients and in Scotland narrow roads with passing places are marked; scenic routes are highlighted. Driving distances are indicated in miles, plus on main routes in kilometres. Ferry connections are shown but railway lines are not included.

Relief shading is used to indicate the topography. Small symbols indicate various landmarks or places of interest, but the map is not primarily designed to highlight tourist sights. The map has no geographical coordinates. Multilingual map legend includes English. The index lists location in each country separately.

Also provided is basic information on each country’s driving regulations, a distance table, plus insets showing ferry connections between Britain, Ireland and the European ports.
