The main map at 1:1,300,000 has altitude colouring and indicates sand dunes, salt marshes and wadis. Road network shows locations of petrol stations. Other symbols mark hotel accommodation, campsites, banking services including cash dispensers, medical facilities, and various places of interest: forts and castles, camel and horse racing tracks, bull fighting arenas, turtle breeding grounds, beehive tombs, etc. Small drawing of local birds and animals indicate best places to find them. The map has no geographical coordinates but is indexed.

On the reverse are several plans and enlargements. A street plan of Muscat, annotated with numerous places of interest and facilities including hotels and shopping centres, extends out to the international airport. Its Mutran Business District is covered by a very detailed enlargement showing airline offices, banks, etc.

Other insets provide a street plan of Salalah and a map of its environs, maps of Sur and Sohar, and a plan of the souk area in the country’s old capital of Nizwa. Also included is a distance table, plus notes on the country’s geography and its main places of interest. All the text is in English.
