Rio de Janeiro on a light, waterproof and tear-resistant tourist street plan at 1:15,000 from the NGS, highlighting numerous places of interest, hotels, etc. and providing information on the city’s transports, main sights, beaches, etc.

The main plan covers the city’s central districts to just beyond the Avenida Engenheiro Freyssinet, with two separate insets extending it further west to include the of São Cristóvão district with the Maracanã Stadium and the road to the top of the Corcovado with the famous statue of Christ. Coverage south stretches beyond the Botafogo district the Sugarloaf mountain, extending on the reverse side to include the Copacabana and Ipanema districts.

The plans highlight numerous places of interest as well as various facilities including hotels, car parks, places of worship, etc. Metro stations are clearly marked and one way streets are indicated. The plan is indexed and includes a list of the city’s main sights.

On the reverse there is also additional tourist information, including notes on the city’s points of interest, beaches, the carnival, public transport, etc. Also provided is a diagram of the metro network, a plan of the international airport, and two small maps: the environs of Rio and the southern tip of Brazil with the neighbouring countries.
