Alpine Countries Road Atlas from MairDumont in an A4 spiral-bound format with street plans of 22 main towns and mapping of the whole of Europe for route planning, presented with the publisher’s innovative system of providing peel-on/peel-off stickers for making selected locations more prominent when navigating.

Coverage extends from the German Alps to the beyond Rome and from the Rhone Valley and Provence to Bratislava and Zagreb, including , therefore, the whole of Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia as well as the northern half of Italy.

Road information includes motorway services, toll roads, seasonal closures, traffic restrictions, roads closed to or not recommended for caravans, gradients, scenic roads, etc. Rail network shows stations and different kinds of mountain transport (cable car lines, etc.) are included.

Picturesque towns and villages as well as other places of interest including natural features are highlighted. The maps show locations of selected campsites, youth hostels, mountain refuges, inns and hotels, etc.

Topography is shown by relief shading, with spot heights, names of mountain and hill ranges, etc. National and regional parks and other protected areas are prominently marked. No geographical coordinates are provided. The index, arranged by country, lists towns and villages with their post codes and includes rivers, lakes and other geographical features, places of interest, etc.

Map legend includes English.

Also provided are street plans at 1:20,000 for city centres of 22 main towns, an overview map highlighting main places of interest, a table of distances and driving times between the area’s main cities, and information on emergency numbers and driving regulations in each country.

A special feature of MairDumont’s range of “Marco Polo” maps and atlases is a set of seven peel-on/peel-off stickers which can be placed on the maps to help with navigating, and removed without damaging the surface.

In common with many atlases published in Central European countries, this title also includes road mapping of the whole of Europe, here at 1:4,500,000.
