A wonderful 84x59cm map; many map projections, especially the Mercator projection, have been accused of artificially distorting the world, making the Northern Hemisphere appear far larger than it really is. This projection, invented by James Gall in the 19th century and popularised by Arno Peters in the 1970s, aims to correct this. The continents are shown with their land areas correct in relation to each other (however their shapes have to be distorted somewhat to achieve that). On this version, each continent is a different colour, and each country within that continent is a different shade.

Current edition of this map has North Sudan and South Sudan as separate countries, with the border between them shown as for disputed areas.

Projection: Gall Orthographic
