Size:
91x59cm
Colourful 91x59cm wallmap of the West Indies, with - on the reverse - individual maps at enlarged scales of some of the smaller islands. The main map coverage extends from southern Florida, Cuba and the Bahamas to Trinidad, the Lesser Antilles and the north Venezuelan coast. The familiar NGS cartography is here: different colours highlighting political boundaries and unobtrusive hill-shading showing the general relief. Major roads and rivers are marked and symbols depict airports, capital cities, regional capitals and volcanoes. Bathymetric tinting is applied to the sea areas, with some depths marked. latitude and longitude lines are drawn at 3 degree intervals. The map is annotated with geographical facts and there are inset simple street plans of Nassau, San Juan, Charlotte Amalie, Havana and George Town.
On the reverse is a view of the region from a north-facing elevated perspective. Here physical relief is the predominant characteristic, with bolder hill-shading on the islands and continental shelves also shown. Ferries and major roads are marked and symbols indicate airports, protected areas, historic sites, cruise ports, golf courses, casinos and beach resorts. The map is annotated with information on selected islands, and arranged around this map are more detailed, hill-shaded maps of 17 islands at various larger scales showing more of the same features listed above. latitude and longitude lines are marked and each map is also accompanied by brief text and facts on the location.
