Hand-drawn panorama of the Alps (100 x 59cm / 3’3” x 2’11” approx.), from Kompass Verlag, Europe’s largest publisher of hiking maps. The mountains are presented in a 3-D effect, with snow covered peaks, valleys, lakes, etc. Viewed from the north towards the south, the panorama is centered between Lake Constance and Lake Como, and has Vienna, Munich, Basel and Dijon in the foreground, with in the background the Po Valley, the Adriatic and the spine of the Apennines. Coverage east/west extends from Vienna to beyond the Rhône Valley. The map names numerous peaks (many shown with heights), individual chains, valleys, lakes and towns.
* Pease note: this is not a reduced version of a similar, much larger panorama map of the Alps in Summer from Mairdumont but a different drawing, with different place names, etc.
