Northern Banat: Szeged - Timisoara – Arad at 1:200,000 from Höfer Verlag on an indexed map with present day road and rail networks but with current place names annotated with their old German versions.
The publishers specialize in maps of areas which prior to the upheavals caused by the two World Wars were part of Germany or the Austro-Hungarian Empire and had large German-speaking population. Where appropriate, town and villages as well as topographic features are annotated with their old German names. Also marked are locations of settlements which no longer exist. The accompanying index attached to the map cover lists the current Serbian, Romanian and Hungarian names with their German equivalents, plus from German to the other three languages.
The map itself shows the road network, including small local roads and tracks, with driving distances on main and secondary routes and locations of border crossings. Railway lines are shown with stations. Picturesque towns and villages are highlighted and other places of interest are indicated by symbols, including campsites. Topography is shown by relief shading with colouring for woodlands. The map has no geographical coordinates. Map legend includes English.
The accompanying index booklet also includes a street plan of central Timisoara and the map comes with a magnifying glass attached to its cover.
