      On occasion, either for large urban sites or for large land holdings in rural areas, the standard A4 planning maps won't cover the extents with sufficient context. To meet this requirement we have created additional sheet sizes (A3/ A2 & A1) at 1:500, 1:1250 and 1:2500 scales.

      • These larger sheet sizes can be purchased through both our online Stanfords Portal tool and our Manchester Service Centre. Please note that because of the increased areas of coverage, these plans will be considerably more expensive than the standard A4 planning maps, and therefore shouldn't be used instead of them if they suffice. To allow customers to assess the sort of coverage offered in comparison to the standard A4 plans, we have made available some samples (below).

      The plans are available in monochrome or full colour and as a pdf, word doc or tiff. Please note that the tiff option is a much larger file than the others and should only be used by those who require interoperability in software packages such as Photoshop. Please also note that the word doc is the only format that allows customers to edit the address box information and the logos (for use by those organisations wishing to add their own logo by way of branding). All maps are supplied under Ordnance Survey's IBU (Internal Business Use) Licence. After the year passes the map file must be deleted from all systems and any further copying is strictly prohibited unless you have a valid OS Paper Map Copying Licence. All OS maps/ plans purchased from both our Service Centre and our Stanfords Portal online tool are current and in copyright.
