Stanfords are pleased to announce that, following extensive customer requests, we are now able to offer a utilities search as part of the map purchase process in Stanfords Portal. All you need to do is define your map files as usual then, before purchase, simply tick the "add utilities search" check box. It couldn't be easier or, at just £15 + vat per search, cheaper.
What is the beforeUdig service?
beforeUdig is a "Plan request" service designed to assist anyone who requires underground asset plans within Great Britain. This "Plan Request" service enables you to request plans from utilities in a very simple step-by-step process. Once the request has been lodged with beforeUdig each utility is sent a request for asset palns for the area you nominate.
The service provides comprehensive utility searching including:
- Electricity (Dist & Trans).
- Gas (Dist & Trans).
- Independent operators.
- Water.
- Sewer.
- Drainage.
- Oil pipelines.
- Telecoms.
- Rail/ Underground.
- Local government.
At present the standard service means that customers will receive responses individually from each asset owner (utility) but in time we may also include a premium service that collects and compiles these responses for the customer before forwarding.
The order process is as follows:
Usually the majority of utilities won't have any assets in the area. Those that do will, as part of the service, notify you of any plans that are available. These are then either sourced or purchased (depending on whether the utility levies a charge) by the customer direct from the asset owner(s).
