The map presents the country’s railway lines on a plain base with just rivers and lakes, plus the road network in faded grey colouring. The lines are shown with stations and initials of the operating companies. Each side (Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces on one side, with Manitoba, Saskatchewan Alberta and British Columbia on the reverse), has a separate index of stations, plus a panel listing operating companies grouped into Class 1 Carriers, Short Lines/Regional Carriers, Passenger Carriers, Commuter Railways and Tourist Railways.
