Map No. 3041OT, Avignon, is from IGN’s excellent, detailed topographic survey of France at 1:25,000, published in two formats, TOP25 and Série Bleue, with GPS compatible UTM grid now provided in all latest editions.
TOP25 maps (map numbers ending in T) cover areas of particular tourist interest: the Alps, Pyrenees, Cevennes, Vosges, Provence, Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts, etc. An overprint highlights local footpaths, long-distance GR routes and, where appropriate, ski routes. Other tourist information indicated by symbols includes campsites, equestrian or canoeing centres, huts, mountain refuges, notable sites, etc. Map legend is in French and English. Each TOP 25 map covers an area of approximately 28 x 21 km / 17 x 13 miles.
TOP25 Mini Maps are now available for the most visited parts of the Alps and the Pyrenees. Each map is double-sided to reduce the size of the sheet and covers a slightly smaller area than the corresponding TOP25 number. For exact coverage please see individual descriptions.
Série Bleue maps which cover the rest of France have no special overprint to show waymarked hiking routes. The legend is in French only. Each Série Bleue map covers an area of approximately 20 x 14 km / 12 x 9 miles, with some maps slightly larger.
Both series have similar cartography, with a contour interval of 5m, except for mountainous areas, where the maps have hill shading and contours at 10m intervals. Since March 1999 all new editions have a 1-km UTM grid.
Please note:
Institute Géographique National also publishes several other series of detailed road or recreational maps of France for hiking and various outdoor activities, all listed on our website.
Raised relief maps:
IGN is renowned for their excellent series of 3-D plastic maps, covering all but the flattest parts of France, from Brittany, Normandy or the Paris region to a truly spectacular map of the Mont Blanc massif. Popular areas such as the Alps, the Pyrenees or Provence are covered at a variety of scales. These superb maps can be a beautiful decoration, an excellent educational aid or an unusual reminder of an interesting holiday. Unfortunately, due to frequent damage in transit to our customers, we are unable to offer these maps on our website. Selected titles are kept in stock, and all others can be ordered for collection from our London shop. Please contact us by e-mail for a full list of titles.
