Lombardy on a road map published by the Touring Club Italiano in cooperation with the Regional Council to highlight locations of over 180 historic family run business and shops offering a wide range of products.

Places with one or more of these historic outlets, selected by Lombardy’s Regional Council after an in-depth survey and evaluation, are prominently highlighted on the map. Over 50 are listed in Milan, several in Bergamo, Brescia, Cremona, Mantua and Pavia. Many can be found in the area north of Milan, within easy reach of popular holiday destinations around Lake Como and Lake Maggiore

On the reverse of the map over 180 establishments are listed, each with its address and telephone number, the date when first opened (same date back to the early 19th century), and an indication of what products can be found there.

The outlets are grouped into 10 categories: clothes and accessories; shoes, leather goods and furs; groceries; bars, cafes, cake shops, ice cream parlours and tobacconists; restaurants, trattorias, taverns and pizzerias; furniture, household goods, electrical appliances, ironmongers and florists; books, stationery, toys, music and videos; health and beauty; jewellers, watchmakers and silversmiths; plus sundries (travel agencies, gunsmiths and opticians/photographic equipment).

The map itself provides an excellent presentation of the region’s topography, particularly in its northern mountainous areas, with altitude colouring and spot heights, plus names of mountain ranges, valleys, etc. National parks and other protected areas are marked and numerous scenic routes are highlighted. Coverage extends beyond the region’s borders; east to Vicenza and Ferrara and south to Modena.

Map legend and all the text are in Italian and English.
