Cicerone Climbing, Mountaineering and Scrambling Guides are books about both the activities and techniques themselves, as well as the locations in which to do them, in both Great Britain and the rest of the world. The seriea also includes titles on alpine skiing and some guides include mountain walks to accompany the primary activity featured.

Most of the guides in this series are not aimed the novice as they include ascents of high trekking peaks, itineraries based in testing mountain terrain, or advanced scrambles and generally remote and technically challenging terrain. A high level of mountain awareness and the ability to use the correct technical equipment will be necessary.

Guides offer advice on the best seasons and weather to undertake the activities and logistical complications and need-to-knows, as well as giving informed details on difficulty levels and skills required. Visitor points of interest and must see tourist locations are detailed, as are stop over and accommodation options.
