Western United States in a series of three indexed regional road maps at 1:2,600,000 from Rand McNally with on the reverse several panels presenting major urban conurbations in greater detail, plus a mileage table and a distance/driving times map.

The enlargements show: in California the entire Los Angeles - Riverside conurbation with an inset for Oxnard/Ventura and a street plan of downtown LA, the whole of the San Francisco Bay area including Oackland and San Jose, Bakersfield, Fresno, Modesto, Sacramento, San Diego and vicinity, Santa Rosa and Stockton; plus Albuquerque, Boise, Colorado Springs, Denver and vicinity, Eugene, Las Vegas with an additional street map of The Strip, Ogden, Phoenix and vicinity, Portland and vicinity, Salt Lake City and vicinity, Seattle - Tacoma and vicinity, Spokane and Tucson.

The three maps covering the Eastern, Central and Western states present the road network on a clear white base with colouriong used to highlight national parks and other protected areas plus Indian Reservations. Road network indicates toll routes and shows free interstate highways with rest areas. State and provicial highways are clearly numbered and most roads show intermediate distances. Topographic information is provided by names of mountain ranges and other geographic features, including the course of the Continental Divide. The maps clearly show state and time zone boundaries, and indicate which urban areas are shown on the reverse in greater detail. Each map is indexed and has a mileage chart.

Also part of this series is an additional map of New England at a larger scale of 1:564,000, with similar cartography but with more detailed presentation of the road network.
