Yucatan Peninsula at 1:650,000 on an indexed road map with topographic and tourist information, printed on light, waterproof and tear-resistant plastic paper. The map is published by Rough Guides with cartography from the highly acclaimed World Mapping Project by the German publishers Reise Know-How.

Subtle altitude colouring with contours and spot heights presents topography. Swamps, mangroves and coral reefs in the coastal waters are also marked. Road network includes local tracks and indicates driving distances on main routes and locations of petrol stations. Railways lines are included and local airports are marked. National parks and other protected areas are highlighted and a range of symbols mark various places of interest including viewpoints, campsites, beaches, surfing and diving sites, etc. Special symbols indicate the region’s numerous Maya remains. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at intervals of 30°. The map has an index of localities with a separate list of national parks and other protected areas.

”World Mapping Project” is an extensive series of maps at varying scales, aiming to provide coverage of countries and regions worldwide using clear, well presented cartography with both topographic and tourist information. Some maps in this series have been published in Britain by Rough Guides with the same cartography. The remaining titles are listed on our website in their original Reise Know-How editions.

Sample of cartography:
Some elements of the cartography e.g. minor roads and contours are printed relatively faintly compared with other information such as major roads. Although clearly legible on the map, the lower contrast of these details has made them less obvious on the reproduction of the cartography presented here.
