Almaty Oblast on a detailed English language road map, with lists historical or archaeological monuments and tourist accommodation facilities, a street plan of central Taldykorgan, plus a distance table.

The map has altitude colouring and spot heights, with graphics indicating sandy areas, swamps, salt pans, glaciers, river canyons, different types of vegetation, etc, plus names of deserts, plateaux, valleys, mountain ranges, etc. National Parks and other protected areas as prominently marked.

The map shows the province’s road network, including unsurfaced tracks and cross-desert routes, indicating locations of petrol stations, car repair facilities and border crossing to Kyrgyzstan and China. Also shown is the old course of the Silk Route linking Lake Balkash and Lake Alakol with Almaty and the Chinese border. Railway lines are shown with stations and local airports are marked as well as ferry routes on Lake Balkash and boundaries of administrative sub-divisions.

A range of symbols highlight locations with hotels and other tourist accommodation including hunting lodges, numerous archaeological and historical sites, burial grounds, rock drawings, springs and well, etc. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at 1° intervals.

The map has no index but includes lists of 40 tourist accommodation facilities and of 70 various historical and archaeological sites. Also included is a street plan of central Taldykorgan and a distance table.
