The Danube - a River Guide- is the result of experienced yachtsman Rod Heikell's two journeys down the river from its source in southern Germany to the Black Sea, the first by public transport, the second in Rozinante - a 17ft motorsailor equipped especially for the voyage.
The guide contains essential information on geography, history, navigation, travelling on the Danube and public transport. There is also a useful country by country guide to formalities and customs. The bulk of the book forms a kilometre by kilometre guide for use by navigators and other travellers. These sections are supported by clear mapping and contain notes about features and places en route. There is a detailed appendix covering further reading, facilities for navigators, useful addresses and a diary of Rozinante's voyage.
