Congo Democratic Republic at 1:2,000,000 on a large map from the Institute Géographique du Congo, prepared in mid-2007 in co-operation with the NGI/IGN, Belgium’s national survey organization. The map has as its base a satellite image of the county with colouring adjusted to indicate six different types of vegetation. Numerous small tributaries of the Congo and other rivers are named and four kinds of protected areas are marked.

Road network shows surfaced roads and connecting unsurfaced routes, plus local tracks, indicating those passable with difficulty. Railway lines are shown as well as locations of local airports or aerodromes and ports along the navigable sections of the river network. The map also shows the country’s internal administrative divisions with seats of provincial or district administration. Latitude and longitude grid is at intervals of 1º, with UTM margin ticks. There is no index of localities.

Also included are two insets showing the country’s provinces and national parks or other protected areas.

Map legend and all other information is in French.

Please note: apart from lakes crossed by Congo’s borders, no information is provided in the neighbouring countries except Brazzaville, Bangui and Kigali, plus two lakes in north-western Zambia.
