Indexed map with notes on the area’s geography and history. Relief is shown by altitude tinting, complemented by spot heights for selected peaks and names of various hill and mountain rages. Salt pans, sand dunes, lava areas, oasis and seasonal streams are marked, with wells and waterholes prominently highlighted. Internal administrative boundaries and names of the provinces are shown. Road information includes poor quality unsurfaced tracks or rough routes. Intermediate distances and locations of petrol stations are marked on the country’s main highway. The map also shows local airfields and indicates nature reserves and campsites in the southern part of the country around Mogadishu. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at 1° intervals, and the map has and index of localities and is annotated with facts and background information on the region’s geography and history.
With coverage extending to just beyond 41° east, the map also includes the eastern part of Ethiopia, with tourist information provided for the Ahmar Mountains area, indicating accommodation, petrol supplies, hot springs, cave paintings and the Harar (Babille) Elephant Sanctuary.
