Historic Sites in Iceland by Örn Sigurðsson, an informative guide in a handy format, covering all the country’s main sites from the days of the first settlers in the 9th century to the present. 281 sites are described, including locations of sagas and historical events, birth places of leading Icelanders, examples of local architecture, natural disasters, etc.

Each site has a concise description in Icelandic, English and German, with all locations shown on a map of the whole country and on additional detailed regional maps. The book is illustrated with colour photos.

The author, Örn Sigurðsson, is a geographer and map publisher by profession with a keen interest in the country's history. He has been dealing with the geography, geology and history of Iceland for nearly three decades. Today he is the publishing director of the cartographic division of Forlagið, the country’s largest publishing house.
