Austria on a series of contoured, GPS compatible outdoor leisure maps from Freytag & Berndt with hiking and cycling routes, mountain huts, campsites and youth hostels, local bus stops, plus other tourist information.

The series is currently being revised and new titles/new editions since spring 2011 are published with slightly different, more refined cartography and in a more handy format, as indicated in their individual details and descriptions.

All the maps have contours at 100-metre intervals in the mountainous areas (50 metres elsewhere), enhanced by shading and graphic relief. An overprint highlights waymarked hiking trails, indicating different degree of difficulty and sections with fixed ropes, cycling routes and, on most of the titles, also ski routes. The maps also show youth hostels, campsites, mountain huts and refuges, etc, as well as local bus stops, and various places of interest. The maps are GPS compatible with a UTM grid and margin ticks for latitude and longitude. Map legend includes English.

Each map comes with a separate booklet, in GERMAN only. Booklets in maps published since spring 2011 provide more and better laid-out information than those accompanying earlier editions, with more extensive lists of mountain huts and refuges, descriptions of places of interest, a selection of recommended routes with profiles, etc. Where appropriate, contact details are provided. Earlier booklets have a list of local mountain huts and refuges, a list of GPS waypoints for locations highlighted on the map, and brief descriptions of selected trails.

Selected popular hiking areas are also covered by maps at more detailed scale: the WK5000 numbers at 1:35,000. These are basically enlargements of the 1:50,000 cartography, but with some additional information. Similar booklets as for the 1:50,000 maps are included.
