Navigation of the guide is assisted by a ‘How to use this book’ section which clearly explains the legend and layout. The book gives detailed introductions to The Maldives in general and diving and snorkelling there in particular. It also has special feature focuses on manta rays, reef colours, sharks, anemones and clownfish, night diving and traditional fishing.

Dive sites are arranged within eight atoll regions: North and South Malé, Felidhoo and Mulaku, Addu, South and North Nilandhoo, Ari, South and North Maalhosmadulu, and Faadhippolhu. Regional introductions describe each site’s climate, environment, advantages and disadvantages. Each dive and snorkelling site is awarded a star rating ranging from first class to poor.
