The map shows the country’s rail and road networks, with selected secondary roads and tracks, indicating driving distances on main routes. Symbols highlight various places of interest, including archaeological sites, etc. The map also shows internal administrative boundaries with names of the provinces.

In order to provide coverage of the whole country on one side but at a better scale of 1:2,000,000 three areas are shown as insets: the Yucatan Peninsula, the southernmost tip of the country and the far north-west around Tijuana and Mexicali bordering California and western Arizona. The map has latitude and longitude lines at intervals of 2º. The map is indexed and its map legend includes English.
