Atlas of the Conflict - Israel-Palestine is an atlas compiled by author Malkit Shoshan that maps the territorial aspects of the relations between Israel and Palestine over the last 100 years. The book comprises an exhaustive range of maps and diagrams that map the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and is divided into themes by chapter, including borders, walls, settlement patterns, settlement typologies, demography, water, landscaping, archaeology and Jersulaem. The author presents this themes as being interlinked both with each other and also the personal stories, traumas, myths, beauty, tragedies, popular tales, defeats and victories of the two peoples.
The author has tried to restrict the use of personal expressions in documenting the conflict and instead uses maps and illustrations to unveil the territorial dynamics and shapes of the conflict using factual data. There are also popular quotes, personal stories, national and international legislation, legal terms, snapshorts and portraits which help give a broader persepective of the complex issues involved. These are compiled at the end of the book in a lexicon, a key timeline of events and a territorial overview of negotiation sessions.
In order to lose the hierarchical or lineal order of the book, a system of hyperlinks have been introduced, indicating parallel stories and allowing readers various routes through the different pages of the book.
