Israel in an A5, spiral-bound road atlas from Mapa Publishers, with the bulk of the country at 1:150,000 and the Negev at 1:225,000. Includes descriptions of the country’s 100 best sites, plus street plans of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa and Be’er Sheva.

The maps have clear white base with the country’s topography shows by names of hills, valleys, etc, plus peaks with heights. Colouring and/or graphics is used to show salt marshes and forested area.

International boundaries reflect current situation, but with the pre-1967 Green Line, and no information is shown outside the country’s borders. Colouring is used to indicate A and B areas of Palestinian autonomy, the course of the separation wall is marked, and presentation of the road network indicates access roads to Isreali settlements within the Palestinian areas, gates or military road blocks, possible danger points and roads closed by the IDF. All place names are in the Latin alphabet only.

Road network includes difficult seasonal roads for 4WD vehicles, shows junction names, locations of petrol stations indicating which brand, and gives intermediate distances on main routes. Scenic routes are highlighted. Railway lines are shown with stations.

Various places of interest are highlighted, including national parks and other protected areas, JNF sites, archeological remains, holy places of different denominations, etc. Also shown is the course of the Israel Track long-distance hiking trail. The maps have no geographical coordinates.

The atlas includes a list of the country’s 100 best sites each with a brief description. Also provided are street plans of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa and Be’er Sheva, clearly showing names of different districts, one way streets, important buildings, etc. Also provided is a distance table.
