Lebanon at 1:200,000, plus a street plan of Beirut, on an indexed, waterproof and tear-resistant road map with topographic and tourist information. The map, published by Reise Know-How as part of their highly acclaimed World Mapping Project is double-sided and has a road map of Lebanon on one side, with half of the reverse side covered by the street plan of Beirut and the remainder containing an index for the road map.
Clear topographic base has altitude colouring with contours, spot heights, and names of mountain ranges. Seasonal rivers and lakes, springs and hot springs are marked. Protected areas and cedar forests are highlighted.
Road network includes selected local tracks, gives driving distances on many secondary routes, and shows locations of border crossings. Railway lines, local airfields and oil or gas pipelines are also marked. Internal administrative boundaries are shown with names of the provinces. Names of main towns are also shown in Arabic, with all other place names only in Latin alphabet.
Symbols highlight various places of interest, including UNESCO world heritage sites, archaeological remains, churches, castles, etc. Campsites and locations with hotel accommodations are indicated. The map has a grid with latitude and longitude at intervals of 10’, and an extensive index of localities. Coverage includes Damascus and the northern part of the Golan Heights (pre-1967 boundaries but with the UNDOF Zone). Map legend includes English.
Half of the reverse side is taken by a clear, easy-to-read street plan of Beirut, annotated with various facilities and places of interest, including selected hotels, banks, embassies, etc. The plan is not indexed.
”World Mapping Project” is an extensive series of maps at varying scales, aiming to provide coverage of countries and regions worldwide using clear, well presented cartography with both topographic and tourist information. Some titles in this series have been published in Britain by Rough Guides with the same original cartography and are listed on our website only under that imprint. However, if required, the original Reise Know-How editions can be ordered on request - please contact us by e-mail.
Sample of cartography:
Some elements of the cartography e.g. minor roads and contours are printed relatively faintly compared with other information such as major roads. Although clearly legible on the map, the lower contrast of these details has made them less obvious on the reproduction of the cartography presented here.
