The Cumbria Coastal Way is Ian and Krysia Brodie’s Cicerone guide to a walk that links two of England’s greatest estuaries - Morecambe Bay and the Solway Firth, providing 182 miles of walking country. Leading north from Lancashire around the edge of the Lake District and towards the Scottish border, the route covered by the guide reveals some of the unspoilt landscapes in this little-known landscape. The guide allows walkers to complete the route in one week or to attempt it in sections and is suitable for those of all ages and abilities.
The guide is organized into five main sections - Morecambe Bay, The Duddon Estuary, the Lake District National Park, the West Cumbrian Coast and the Solway coast - which are in turn divided into 15 stages in total; this is easily walked in two weeks. A detailed introduction provides information on Flowers and Wildlife, Literary and Historical associations, Estuaries and Tides and Safety on the walk. Detailed route descriptions are accompanied by Ordnance Survey extracts mapping the routes in addition to colour photographs illustrating some of the highlights of this picturesque coastline.
