Egypt at 1:1,125,000 on an indexed, waterproof and tear-resistant road map with topographic and tourist information, published by Reise Know-How as part of their highly acclaimed World Mapping Project. The map is double-sided to provide the best balance between a good scale and a convenient size sheet, with a very generous overlap between the two sides. The map covers of the whole country, including the whole of the Western Desert and the Sinai, with just the southernmost part of the Red Sea coast shown as an inset.
Road network is easy to see on a clear base which shows the country’s topography by altitude colouring with contours, spot heights, and plenty of names of mountain ranges, hills, etc. National Parks and other protected areas are highlighted. Road network includes desert tracks and shows distances on main routes. Railway lines are included and domestic airports are marked. Internal administrative boundaries are shown with names of the provinces; the map also shows oil pipelines.
Symbols highlight numerous places of interest, including UNESCO World Heritage sites, ancient Egyptian and other archaeological remains, monasteries and religious sites, etc. Around El Alamein, often not included on maps which concentrate on covering the Nile Valley and Sinai, locations of war cemeteries are marked. The map has a latitude and longitude grid at intervals of 1° and an index of place names. Map legend includes English.
*”World Mapping Project”* is an extensive series of maps at varying scales, aiming to provide coverage of countries and regions worldwide using clear, well presented cartography with both topographic and tourist information.
