Street map of Irkutsk with an enlargement showing the town centre in greater detail and with highlighting of its historic buildings and monuments, plus a road map of the city’s environs. Most place names are in the Cyrillic alphabet, but with names of districts and selected streets also transliterated; map legend includes English.
On one side the city is shown at 1:25,000. Names of selected streets, districts and other locations are also given in the Latin alphabet. Streets are shown with selected house numbers for easier identification of addresses, and a wide range of symbols indicate locations of various services and institutions including hotels, supermarkets and street markets, etc. Street index is supplemented by lists of all the places highlighted on the plan.
On the reverse the town centre is shown in greater detail at 1:8,000, also with selected house numbers. A more limited range of symbols indicate tourist facilities (hotels, restaurants, petrol stations, tourist information office) but the plan also shows locations of 87 historic buildings and monuments. Also provided is a road map showing the environs of Irkutsk at 1:190,000. Both the street plan enlargement and the road map have some names in the Latin alphabet and an English map legend. The list of the city’s historic buildings and monuments is in Russian only.
