Detailed walking guide with route maps and plenty of background information.
The Mountains of Montenegro in a walking guide from Cicerone Press with itineraries ranging from short (2km) hikes to multi-day treks. The guide recommends circular and point-to-point routes, generally on waymarked footpaths, presenting them with detailed descriptions accompanied by somewhat basic but coloured and contoured maps.

The selection covers routes in seven main hiking areas: Durmitor - the country’s best known national park, Prokletije, Bjelasica, Orjen, Lovcen, Komovi and Kucka Krajina. Most of the walks begin at 1000m (3000ft) and rise up to between 1600m (5250ft) and 2500m (8200ft). Introductory chapters provide general information and tips for travelling in Montenegro, plus advice for hikers; sections include a summary of all the routes, a list of the country’s main peaks, etc.
