REVISED 3rd EDITION 2019/20.
My Ibiza and Formentera by Hjordis Fogelberg is a personal collection of recommendations gathered over the years through trial and error and offering an insight into the diverse island. Written in English with Spanish translations below, this guide is packed full of insider tips. The author’s parents arrived in Ibiza with the first wave of hippies in the 1960s so she grew up as the island has evolved into the much loved tourist destination it has become today. Her knowlege from the perspective of a local makes her the oracle on all things to do and see.
It begins with a brief history of Ibiza and is followed by an agenda that shows a calendar of island events and parties at all the best clubs. Chapters are split into regions and then each chapter highlights where to eat, drink, shop and sleep. The chapters begin with a sketch of a street plan and end with a list of five things you should do. Information is arranged into columns so it is easy to flick through and find what interests you. Scattered throughout the book are useful pages that include helpful phrases, a list of important numbers and a number of columns with tips from the author on subjects ranging from parking, to food and cocktail recipes.
As the co founder and art director of Pasha Magazine, Fogelberg has ensured this guide is suitably aesthetic with beautifully stylised sketched illustrations. This guide is an ideal discovery tool to help you get the best out of your holiday island experience.
