Nordkalotten (Cap of the North) – the northernmost tip of Scandinavia across Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia, presented at 1:700,000 on a road map from the Swedish publishers Norstedts. Coverage extends south well beyond the Arctic Circle to include the northern part of the Gulf of Bothnia, and within Russia eastwards to Murmansk and Monchegorsk.
Shading and colouring vividly shows the region’s topography, with plenty of names of local peaks. Within Norway, Sweden and Finland road network includes local roads, shows driving distances on main routes, and indicates sections closed during the winter months. Railway lines and ferry connections are included, and local airports are marked. Symbols indicate locations of campsites, youth hostels and bathing sites. Within Russia road information is more limited, no tourist details, and all place names in the Latin alphabet only. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at 30’ and 1º respectively. The map has no index. Map legend includes English.
