Cuba at 1:850,000 on an indexed road map with topographic and tourist information, printed on light, waterproof and tear-resistant plastic paper. The map, published by Rough Guides with cartography from the highly acclaimed World Mapping Project by the German publishers Reise Know-How, is double-sided to provide the best balance between a good scale and a convenient size sheet.

The map divides Cuba east/west with a very generous overlap between the sides. Altitude colouring with contours and peak heights presents the country’s topography. Seasonal rivers, swamps and mangroves are marked, as well as coral reefs in the coastal waters. Road network includes local dirt tracks and indicates driving distances on main routes and locations of petrol stations. Scenic routes are highlighted. Railway lines and ferry routes are included and local airports are marked.

National parks and other protected areas are highlighted and a range of symbols mark various places of interest including campsites, beaches and diving sites, harbours and marinas, hot springs, etc. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at intervals of 30’. The map has an extensive index of localities.

”World Mapping Project” is an extensive series of maps at varying scales, aiming to provide coverage of countries and regions worldwide using clear, well presented cartography with both topographic and tourist information. Some maps in this series have been published in Britain by Rough Guides with the same cartography. The remaining titles are listed on our website in their original Reise Know-How editions.

Sample of cartography:

Some elements of the cartography e.g. minor roads and contours are printed relatively faintly compared with other information such as major roads. Although clearly legible on the map, the lower contrast of these details has made them less obvious on the reproduction of the cartography presented here.
