The Alaska & Canada’s Inside Passage Cruise Tour Guide map is an impressive 2-metre (6 foot) gatefold road map of the western coast of Canada and Alaska, with detailed text on cruising, touring and general background information - including cruise ship routes. The map extends from Vancouver and Seattle in the south to Yakutat and Skagway in the north. The mapping is simple and clear, showing main roads and highways over gentle 3-D relief shading. It shows principal towns and urban areas, airports, some attractions such as parks, mountain ranges and peaks.
The reverse of the map features detailed informative text on 8 top coastal towns; Vancouver, Victoria and Prince Rupert, Ketchican, Wrangell/Petersburg, Juneau, Sitka and Skagway/Haines, each with an inset town/area map. The text offers brief descriptions of each place, with historical background and cultural context, as well as detailing selected beaches, shopping destinations, dining and nightlife and regional excursions.
The map also gives a lot of general history, background and geographic description for the entire region, and features many illustrations and photographs. Topics from survival, early explorers, native cultures, wildlife and even fishing boat types are covered.
Please note this map is not intended for navigation, but for planning, general interest and decoration.
