Marrakesh and Essaouira on an indexed tourist street map from Editions Laure Kane, with enlargements for the souks and the centre of Marrakesh, a map of the city’s environs, and extensive tourist information.
In Marrakech, the main plan covers the whole of the Medina, plus the city centre to the west, as far as the railway station. Parks, gardens and notable and public buildings are highlighted and a wide range of symbols show various facilities and landmarks e.g. tourist offices, taxi ranks, bus and coach stations, markets, hotels, cafes, places of worship, emergency services, etc. The map is indexed for streets, accommodation, places of interest and public buildings. Map legend is in French and English.
On the reverse, two enlargements show the souks and the central Guéliz area in greater detail, both with separate indexes and lists of facilities and places of interest. Within the souks, symbols indicate locations of different trades: jewellery, carpets, pottery, fruit and spices, copperware, etc. Also included is a map of the city’s outer districts showing main roads.
The plan of Essaouira at 1:3,000 covers the city within its walls, including the port area plus the main beach. A road map at 1:925,000 shows road connections between the two cities, extending to Ouarzazate to show access to the High Atlas, and along the coast between Essaouira and Agadir.
