Eyewitness travel guide books from Dorling Kindersley are lavishly illustrated and particularly concerned with providing the visitor with detailed background information to sightseeing in the chosen destination and a broad cultural introduction.

Popular historical buildings and museums are often described with cutaway diagrams allowing you to view “inside” your destination, sites are shown with bird’s eye plans and small, more conventional maps contextualise regions and pinpoint places of interest. Guides to cities show transport network plans where applicable.

Country guides have separate chapters on popular city and region destinations but the publisher also has a range of titles which deal solely with a city or popular area within any given country.

    (Paperback) FROMMER'S SEATTLE is a great book about the Seattle, Washington area. It features lots of info about reecration, dining, nightlife, shopping, sightseeing, and culture, as well as interesting side trips and information for foreign travelers. The only problem with this book is that it doesn't go into detail about shopping malls and music stores. However, if you get it in conjunction with the INSIDERS' GUIDE and NEWCOMER'S HANDBOOK series, as well as several other guides, you'll have everything you need to know about Seattle at your fingertips.
