Corsica, department number D2A-2B at 1:180,000, in a series of road maps of France’s individual administrative departments from the IGN at 1:200,000, also showing the departments’ subdivisions and providing a full index of communes, each annotated with its population details.
Published on convenient size sheets, each map covers an area which extends beyond the department’s boundary, with the background colouring simply adjusted to reflect the administrative borders. Minor roads stand out well on a base map which has no contours or shading, with topographic information provided by plenty of names of mountain ranges, peaks, passes, etc., plus colouring for forested areas. Smaller local roads are classified according to their width and the number of lanes. Driving distances are marked on all roads down to the departmental classification (i.e. roads with D numbers). Motorways show toll sections, services and airs de repos. No geographical coordinates are provided. Map legend includes English.
Each title has an index with a list of communes. The explanation of how administrative status is indicated in the index is in French only.
Please note the different scale of this map to that used for the rest of this series.
Useful tip: the map number reflects the department’s official number and corresponds to the first two digits of the postcode used in all the addresses within that department.
