On one side is a basic map of California, Oregon and Washington State highlighting sites of active or potentially active and inactive volcanoes. The base map shows main roads with national parks, state or national forests and national wildlife refuges. Insets provide similar maps for Alaska with the Aleutian Islands and Hawaii. Also included are lists of the volcanic features of the five states, with those on Alaska divided into active and inactive, each with geographical coordinates and height (in feet).

On the reverse are lists of all the volcanoes arranged by state and providing more information including instructions for road access, classification (caldera, cinder cone, lava dome, maar and tuff cones, etc), a date of the last eruptions, general comments, etc. Also provided are more general notes about volcanic activity, types of eruptions, etc.
