New Zealand's North Island Touring Atlas & Guide: A4, paperback atlas and guide with descriptions of most visited areas illustrated with colour photos, detailed road maps, and street plans of main towns.
The atlas opens with general information on touring the North Island and descriptions of the te Urewera and Tongariro National Parks accompanied by maps. This is followed by detailed descriptions and recommendations of main sites, arranged by regions: Northlands, Auckland Region, Central North Island and Lower North Island.
The atlas section at approx. 1:350,000 shows the island’s road network, including unsealed local roads and tracks. A wide range of symbols marks locations of camping and caravan sites, dump stations, numerous and varied sport and recreational facilities, wineries, etc. Topography is shown by relief shading with names of mountain ranges and peak heights. National parks and other protected areas are prominently marked. The atlas is indexed and its map legend is conveniently placed in a flap of the back cover.
Street plans are provided for 16 main towns, each with a detailed plan of the central area and a map of the town with its outer suburbs. Also included are lists of Department of Conservation campsites indicating what facilities can be found there, plus details of dump stations.
