Palladio’s Rome is a combined edition, English translation of Andrea Palladio’s (1508-1580) enormously successful guidebooks to the city, allowing visitors to enjoy Rome exactly as their cultural tourist predecessors did four and a half centuries ago.

Palladio published two enormously successful guides to the churches and antiquities of Rome in 1554, striving to be both scholarly and popular. He invited his Renaissance readers to discover the charm of the eternal city’s ancient and medieval wonders, and to follow the pilgrimage routes from one church to the next. The guide is contains location maps of the church pilgrimages and is illustrated with drawings, building plans and modern day colour photographs.
