Sumatra at 1:1,500,000 on a double-sided map from Nelles Verlag, with street plans of central Medan, Padang and Palembang, plus coverage of the Riau Islands with Bintan and Batam, Lingga Islands and Bangka Island. The map also covers the western coast of Malaysia from Singapore to north of Georgetown, plus the north-western tip of Java with Jakarta, showing various ferry routes.

Sumarta is divided north/south, with good overlap between the two sides. Relief shading with spot heights and names of mountain ranges and peaks presents the topography. The map shows the island’s road and rail networks, plus local airports and ferry connections. Also marked are internal administrative boundaries with names of the provinces. National parks or protected areas and numerous places of interest are prominently highlighted. Latitude and longitude are shown as margin ticks at 2° intervals. The map has no index of localities. Map legend includes English.

The street plans highlight main sights, facilities, public buildings and selected tourist accommodation.
