South-West Western Australia Atlas and Guide: an A4, spiral-bound guide and atlas from Hema, with an illustrated guide to the region and its main attractions, an indexed road atlas, advice on planning road trips, etc.
An introductory section provides background information and advice on planning a trip, including special precautions, bush walking etc. The whole area is then divided into five chapters: Perth and Surrounds, South-West Corner, Southern Forests, South Coasts and The Wheatbelt. Descriptions of places of interest and suggestions for local tours are illustrated with numerous colour photos and accompanied by detailed maps and/or street plans. Information includes contact details for information centres, national parks, wineries, etc.
The atlas section at approx. 1:300,000, shows the road network indicating sealed and unsealed roads and 4WD tracks, with a wide range of symbols marking different kinds of fuel supplies; accommodation including campsites, caravan parks, and bush camping areas; dump stations; picnic and rest areas; various places of interest, etc. Colours highlight national parks and other protected areas, Aboriginal lands and prohibited areas. The maps have latitude and longitude ticks at 10’ intervals.
Two index sections list place names, including national parks and reserves, etc, plus topics covered in the introductory section, as well as names of roads within the region.
Also included is a street plan of central Perth, a distance table and a list of local wineries with opening house and contact details.
