The map is double-sided and covers at 1:150,000 the border regions from the Archipalgo de Solentiname in Lago de Nicaragua to the Atlantic showing local towns and settlements with the network of connecting roads, tracks and footpaths. Locations of petrol stations and border crossings are marked. The map also shows local airfields, ports and ferry routes. Symbols indicate various places of interest, including locations with tourist accommodation.
Topography is indicated by relief shading, with graphics for swamps and symbols indicating plantations of cacao, oranges, bananas or pineapples and palm groves. National parks and other protected areas are highlighted and numerous tributaries of the San Juan River are named. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at intervals of 5’. Map legend includes English.
Also provided are insets with street plans of of San Carlos, Boca de Sabalos, El Castillo and San Juan del Norte, indicating various facilities and places of interest.
